So, you think you have what it takes to start a business?
That’s great! The truth is anyone can start a business and anyone can become a
“business owner.” The real question is can anyone run a successful business? If
you continue to follow this blog and you will be able to answer that question
sooner rather than later!
This blog will teach and guide you on what many
entrepreneurs lack; INNOVATIVE BUSINESS MANAGEMENT techniques. It’s time to
steer away from the traditional business management procedures. For instance, your
employees are tired of having to wait a year for a performance evaluation, at
which their manager brings up instances they can’t even remember. “I am sorry
Sally, but we can’t give you a raise because you were late one time six months
ago.” Really? I am sure Sally is going back to their desk to work hard for you
the rest of the day. NOT! Sally is upset, chances are she has no plans on
working hard anytime soon. In fact, I bet she left that evaluation with plans
to update her resume later that evening.
What should managers replace annual review with? Well,
that’s a good question! Managers can do a variety of different things. They can
do a performance evaluation every 90 days so the employee is constantly getting
feedback on their job performance. They can call it as they see it by
correcting or praising employee behavior on the spot, however this method must
be done in private. It is never good management practice to embarrass employees
in front of one another. Another method is having uncomfortable talks every few
months (which are basically the same as performance evaluations but with a less
intimidating name and perception of receiving a raise). Uncomfortable talks are
a good way for managers to get inside their employees’ heads. Employees are
more willing to give ideas, talk about their feelings, and receive constructive
criticism through informal meetings. Try out all three and leave what worked
best for your business in the comments.
Business Blog Tip:
Occasionally take your employee offsite for the evaluation. Restaurants are
great places to hold informal meetings. Your employee will be refreshed with
the new atmosphere & appreciate you buying them lunch!
Annual evaluations are just one technique that needs to go!
There are many others that we will discuss and replace with new innovative
methods. If there are any topics you are interested in learning more about please

Very interesting!
